Thom polynomials for maps of curves with isolated singularities

Abstract: This talk is based on a joint work with Maksim Kazaryan. Thom polynomials are universal polynomials in characteristic classes of maps describing strata of singularities and multisingularities. We give explicit formulas for all Thom polynomials in the case when both the source and the target are one-dimensional and the singularities in question are isolated. These formulas give a partial description of the stratification of compactified Hurwitz spaces.
