We investigate the speed of a random walk among i.i.d. uniformly elliptic conductances in the presence of a drift, and ask whether the speed is a monotone function of the drift. In cases with large disorder, it is not hard to produce examples where the speed is not monotone. Our main result is that in low disorder the speed is indeed monotone.
