Charmenability

A countable group is called charmenable if its "character theory" exhibits certain amenability properties. By character theory we refer to the conjugation action of the group G on PD_1(G), the space of normalized positive definite functions on G, and in particular, the structure of the space of fixed points (traces) and its subset of extreme points (characters). My talk will be a survey on this fast growing topic.
