Curves, measured laminations and geodesic currents on surfaces

Vortrag von Dr. Marie Trin

Datum: 25.09.25  Zeit: 16.05 - 17.00  Raum: ETH HG G 43

Geodesic currents have been introduced by Bonahon in the late 80's and have since proven to provide a good setting to study geometry of surfaces. In this talk we will discuss the notion of curves, measured laminations and then geodesic currents on surfaces and try to give to the audience an insight of those objects. Depending on the time and the preference of the audience we will see how they provide a good setting to study the Thurston compactification of Teichmüller space or Mirzakhani's curves counting.
