We are proud to announce that Professor Alexander Gorodnik will join us at the Institute of Mathematics!

Alexander Gorodnik's research interests center around chaotic group actions appearing in Number Theory, Representation Theory, and Geometry. He received his PhD in 2003 from Ohio State University and held positions at the University of Michigan, California Institute of Technology, and the University of Bristol. He is considered to be one of the world-leading experts in the dynamical systems that arise in Diophantine Geometry. In particular, he has developed a comprehensive ergodic theory for actions of arithmetic groups and invented novel ergodic-theoretic techniques to address a broad range of counting and equidistribution problems.
